Default Looking at a Fever 29 with a hp500... but is it worth it?

Alright guys,
I'm new to the site and basically came here for some help. I've been searching for a while to try and find a Fever 29 which isn't to hard but I'm trying to find a 98 or newer and with a Mercury racing blue block. I know they need attention more often and a rebuilt at around 300 hour +/- some. I can find them around but they all seem to have higher hours on the motor and I'm worried about selling my boat, buying another, and having to go right into a rebuild... now if you can tell me if something like this is worth it but the motor has low hours and the rest of the boat seems to be in great shape. plus the boat sits on a nice trailer (would anyone know what the value of the trailer is?) ...any input from you Fountain pros would be great! or even if anyone knows of anyone selling one like this id be interested to see what you have....

Here's the link to it...

Even if you have to find an engine builder to do a refresh on the top end, it may not be a bad thing. I would get an estimate for the engine work and factor that into your offer. Knowing the vintage of the maintenance history of the engine is a good piece of mind especially if you are starting at zero hours on a refresh with your ownership.

I'll give advise but it is my opinion which is very bias.

I would pass on the 29 and buy my old 32 which is at pier 57. I no longer own the boat so I have no benefit other then I know how low maintenance/cost of ownership will be. You can't beat twin big blocks expecially if they are set up as mild as this boat is. It should last 1500 hours before rebuilds, and anyone can rebuild them.

I would consider a 27... but I don't want to go bigger. I do not want twins, would rather a single.

Yeah I hear you, I just figured having all the build sheets on the motor it might have been worth it knowing exactly what was done to it...

Just to be clear the blue HP500 and HP500EFI motors need the top ends rebuilt around the 200-300 hour frame. If they have been taken care of the bottom ends normally last longer. I would think you could do a top end in a 29 single without pulling the motor if you really wanted.

yea, wasn't a fan of the guy... but I didn't end up getting the build sheet faxed over to me.. had a really hard time finding the guy who rebuilt the motor. just am not sure if it was worth it. I know the trailer is one of the best in the industry but the guy isn't willing to work on price very much.
