Saw it on a picture of a boat for sale on FB and thought it was interesting.

Does it line up with the bend on the outer edge of the hull, and help with stability?

Is that a Sunsation? Wayne started putting them on his twin step 32's for some time after a few of them went for a spin.

I recall a member here (PAST DUE) has those installed on his 280S K-Planes. He has a very fast Formula. I believe he is running over 102 mph now and those tabs help prevent chine walking. See the smooth run in the vid.

Latham marine has their own version of this as well,

Sunsation used them - it was for straighter tracking and added stability while cornering

It typically makes any boat they are installed on look like a pair of Yamaha Waverunners shooting a pair of water streams about 15' high behind the boat. I've only seen them on Sunsations.

A lot of old F1 raceboats and Class 5/P4 boats that don't turn the best use them, or just a piece of angle aluminium bolted to the tab. Usually just on the port side.

I get it on a race boat with a 90 degree angel to the tab It should help in the turns IMO. Not sure why you would use a 45 degree. If a speedo tube can knock off several MPH imagine what 2 of them will do. High speed turning better is the ONLY reason they would be on my boat until someone proves there is a benefit.

Also that only works well IMO if the tabs are installed horizontal on the transom. Its a snow plow if you follow the bottom angel IMO.
