Anyone know anything about Merc dropping the NXT1?

It was released in a press release to dealers last week. Builders must buy the #6 or a M8 now.

Did the cone clutch tranny have anything to do with its demise?

Thoughts on what this will do to the value of existing NXT boats? Big hit or non-issue?

Brett,
Is it just the NXT drive they're doing away with, or the whole transmission/drive package ?

Most likely depend on availability of rebuild parts (oem or aftermarket). I would assume the value of those drives for the 700hp range motors would be a still sought after drive if parts are available. The 6 is considerably heavier than the NXT on both the transom and pocket book.

The letter reads that it is just the NXT drive. The number 6 fits the same transom and transmission.

I doubt values will have any impact. They have a ton of the same internal parts.

Problem is the #6 is less efficient...making the boats slower or forcing you to move up in HP - so when is the turbo 700 or 850 coming out?

They won't be offered with a factory Merc powered build...
