Default complete overhaul on 38 scarab

i thought i maybe able to past on some info from my going project. started with going to freshen up the 510 bowties in boat.
pulled motors , found the motor had came apart at one time. skirt were pretty scuffed up, and a bent 7/16 rod.
next found transom was shot and main stringer.
i will be replacing transom and stringer, repowering boat with pair of 547's.
will post photos as i go,

they used a lot of that on the Scarab line all through the late eighties and early nineties count your blessings the stuff in my 38 is red white and blue lol. I pulled a mold off a full sheet of polished diamond plate so I can make it, kinda handy but not as popular as it was back then. I did some in carbon fiber

Good luck with that flash. I did the same thing to my scarab two seasons ago. I decided to ditch the diamond plate and just painted white. Lots of work ahead.

Did my engines and transom/stringers two years ago as my all winter project...lots of work to say the least! I see now why these guys charge 4 to 5k to replace the transom only. My 31 Excel didn't have any of the diamond plate material in it...this is the first I've seen it. It's a labor of love for your boat and you'll be happy when your done and know you have a solid boat and nothing to worry about in rough water...keep up the good work!
