I've done research on tab location etc however ready to drill now. Anything wrong with location you see. I am making up a template out of plywood however mocked up a piece of cardboard for reference for you to see. The other picture shown is one of same year medal of boat I found on Internet while doing a search. Looks like pretty close to same as they had however I have no clue as there results so I don't want to rely just on that as well. I am checking on stringers etc however want to confirm this location looks ok. Installing 3/4 in above bottom.

Btw they are 280's. Don't pay any attention to the old holes from the benetts that were previously installed. I am filling those holes.

Just curious, the bottom of the plate, installed to bottom of boat -3/4" ?

That's a good location, but given the choice I would mount them like in the imagine below.

Yup I plant to have bottom of plate which is even with the tabs at 3/4 to 1". I just measured again and have to go closer to out edge in order for the threaded stainless tube/mount to avoid drilling into stringer. Hope that's not getting me to close to side however don't have much of an option in order to avoid stringer. I wanna keep it center of hole 1" min away from stringer to allow for washer.

Any issues on new location?

That's pretty common these days. On my last boat mine where mounted like your template and I liked them better than my current boat. My current boat is not quite horizontal, but not parallel with the hull either.

Yes. If the boat is traveling in a straight line with the tabs down, tabs mounted as you pictured will drive the bow down, but they will also be creating additional drag since they are also pushing outwards to the side at the same time. Mounted as I pictured, they will only be pushing downward (forcing the bow down), but with no additional sideways drag.

To visualize this, imagine the boat coming directly at you. Actuate the tabs down down in your mind for each configuration. You'll see the method I suggest only adds downward drag (pushing the bow down), where the other drags the tabs outward (adding much more drag) and the tabs have to be lower further to get the same amount of bow lowering. Basic physics.
