Default Looking for information about 38 Scarab AVS

Im beginning my research into getting a 38 foot Scarab AVS. I thought I had read or heard that there are certain years to avoid? Any input would be helpful.

I currently have a 1983 30 foot Scarab II I love this boat but want to move up.

38 AVS were only produced for 4 1/2 years. There were no significant changes during that period from 1 yr to another.

The AVS is definitely faster than its older non-stepped counterparts. Prior to 98 there were several version of 38s, Flatdecks & Excels, etc.. Depending on the model and year of those there was much more wood used in the construction so that is something to keep in mind. No matter the model or year, the 38s are wave crushers.

The last 38 built is here in Houston. Stamped under serial number "last one". 575's with air and gen. I will ask about transom.

If anyone knows where there might be a 38' AVS bare hull in "Project Condition" I would be interested in it.
