Default Active Thunder Getting ‘Defiant’ With New 29-Foot Bowrider

Hell hasn't quite frozen over for Patrick Haughey at Active Thunder Powerboats, but things have warmed up a bit, http://speedonthewater.com/new-boats...-foot-bowrider

Neat idea. Seems like the trend is in large CC though. I think the Nortech Monte Carlo is a great compromise and would like to see more large cockpit offshore go fast NON CC.

That is a trend, no doubt about it, and it's awesome. But big center consoles from established go-fast boat builders are out of reach for a lot of buyers. Both Active Thunder 29s will price out between $170,000 to $180,000, which is relatively affordable by performance-boat standards. (Don't shoot the messenger. I don't make the rules or set the prices, I just know the marketplace.)

If I was buying a new boat...that closed bow open cockpit boat would be me all day. I do wish it would be a touch bigger like a 33 but I would be fine with the 29'.

I love what they are doing,

I am sure Pat would do a 33 just like it.

I like it. Looking forward to seeing the finished product and hearing the numbers on its performance. Hope they hit a home run with the new model.

Pat's son Casey has been a great addition to the business. He's been able to badger legacy management into newer concepts.

AT remains a true custom boat builder; and will build whatever makes the phone ring.

More to come.

I love the boat but that price point is 50K too high in comparison to other open bow's of that size...
