I guess in this modern day of literature, resorting to name calling and generalization while describing a group of individuals in a Nazi-esq fashion, is acceptable. Sad state of affairs really. Someone must have killed his mom in a speed boat. This guy has more hate for speedboats than anyone I've seen in a loooooooong time.
The way he sees it is you buy a big fast boat because your ego is huge and you're an a**hole...end of story.
Not, "hey, different strokes for different folks" or understanding that just like a Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, etc is not for everyone, neither is an offshore boat. But that is in fact what it is - It's the sports car of the water. I'm guessing this Mr. Ryan Grim drives a Prius. And you gotta love his take on fishing boats as if they're some slow meandering boat out there on the vast oceanfront. Worried about those poor manatees I see but no consideration for all those poor fish killed by those fishermen who's fishing boats (center consoles) get to a fishing hole faster than the vast majority of boats on the water and thus could be defined as a speed boat.
Too bad he bases his judgment on the lack of actually knowing anyone with a "speedboat" and has to resort to interviewing Randy Sweers to even gain a first hand perspective. Though, that kinda backfired with Sweers' whole racing for cancer approach. Kind'a hard to call a guy an a**hole when all you know about him is he A) he owns an offshore race boat and B) donates all the money to cancer research.(though, that hasn't stopped people from calling Randy an a**hole
).
I don't have a facebook account and cant comment on this huge douche nozzles article so please feel free to enlighten this a**hat on some facts. However, try not to prove his point

The article is decently put together, this is an attempt at underlying humor. Remember, it is Huffington Post so it seems "off the wall" when reading it. Nothing to get crazy about, it's just pointing out how Rubio is an a-hole.

Yeah, I think he was trying to be funny. But was he talking about a-hole like these, http://www.offshoreonly.com/articles...k-for-healing?
High-performance powerboats are loud, fast, flashy and burn a lot of fuel. But they're not illegal. So enjoy.
The fun police will always be there.

He forgot to mention all the charity work and events that the "a-holes" put together so they can donate to lots of great causes like the Wounded Warriors, but I'm sure he gives a lot to charity, WTF.

I feel no need to cite charity events to justify how good this sport is. I've met some of the best people in this offshore hobby, granted there are some real dooche bags too. Same can be said of sail boats, jet skis, and just about any other endeavor that can be undertaken.
