Default How long for a mechanic to touch your boat at the shop?

Hey guys,

I'm needing a little reality check. I am curious, during a busy season like right now, how long is it reasonable for a boat to sit at a shop without any work being done?

Depends, but could be 2, 4, or even 6 weeks; ESPECIALLY this time of year.

Yes, the time estimates have been exceeded.

At this time of the year if a shop is not out bare min of 3 to 4 weeks then there is something wrong with that shop. Meaning they do not come highly recommended.

Then we are right on track I like the shop and the guys that work there. Just not crazy about time estimates being missed. Good to know this is average then.

So is your boat in for service down on the very south side of the lake ? I know about 3 / 4 of the shops around the Austin area . Years ago I use to buy a lot of trade ins around the area.

I probably wouldn't describe it as the very south side. Like I said, I like the shop so in no way do I want to throw anyone under the bus. I am just itchy to use my boat sometime this summer.

I took my whaler into the busiest Yamaha shop in town......dropped it off 8am, picked it up the next day at noon! Basically a 100 hr service, impeller, fluids/filters.

Guy has a small yard, essentially a 2 car garage size building and he wants the stuff in/out as fast as possible. He had 4 mechanics working the day I was there, the biggest boat there was a 37 Bahama with triple 300's
