Default Converting Triple engines to twins, whats involved? 42ft fountains

I have been seeing a bunch of 42ft fountains with triples for what seems like real good prices. I was just curious what is involved with converting triples to twins? Do the two outboard engines stay in the same position? I'm assuming after you removed the middle engine you would have to do some stringer work. Also, remove the third outdrive and exhaust tips, patch up all of the holes, replace the dash and throttles for twin setup. Has anyone else done this themselves?

I would think it would involve a new transom and stringer system. If I was doing it I would go to staggered twins which would mean a complete redo.

If you do a search there is a guy at LOTO doing it. I'd say if the labor is free or you are doing it yourself, and you prefer fiberglassing and rigging to boating, go for it!

The easiest way is pull center drivetrain and fill holes. Of course you can go stagger and redo the whole nine yards. All depends on what you want

Don't be scared of trips! Get them reliable and have a awesome riding rig. My brothers old trip 42 was the best riding boat I've been in. I like my stag 525s but wouldn't pay the money for the change. That is my .02.

I was thinking if I ever went that route that I would pull the third engine and drive, keep them as backups or even sell them and do a refresh on the current motors that it would have. It just seems that you see real good deals on the triples more often than the twins. Probably for that very reason that most just want twins.
