Obviously you all know the deal, but we all have "friends" who dont and could use a bit of reading up on the subject!

Good info, I particularly like the passengers that offer to help before, during or after the trip.

All true. Other than family, I've only taken out a few friends that "get it", otherwise I have no desire to lay down the law regarding behavior on a boat. It's a bummer to lay it out and it seems like a bummer to some who aren't boaters, I just don't need that crap. I'd go out by myself before having to deal with clueless passengers, it's just not that important to me to have company just to have a full boat compared to the hassles.

It's strange, it's one of the few pursuits I have where going it alone doesn't bother me one bit.

Great tips! I need some advice tho.... How would you handle it if your WIFE doesnt respect the rules? Telling her she's not coming is NOT an option!!!

LOL, I am not sure there is a non-legal solution to that problem

My wife wasn't a big boater. I told her these are the rules, I really want you to come with me, but if you aren't going to follow them, sit your ass on the dock.

I don't think i have ever had a friend that "didn't get it".

Maybe it is the area and me and all my buds always grew on the water. I have never had the "that guy" on the boat. Maybe I am just lucky.

happily married for more than 3 years so far. She loves the boat, just took a little learning on what is/is not appropriate boat behavior.
