Default Mechanical trim indicator card is off, are others like this too?

Over the weekend I replaced both of my outdrive trim cables. I adjusted them so the springs inside the actuators are not in coil bind and then adjusted them so the actuators are bottomed out when the drives are tucked in all the way. When I trim the drives level with the bottom the best adjustment I can showing on the card is a "3". The trim indicators are original to the boat. Are others trim indicators like this or do I have a bastard system.

What happens when you move the end with the hose clamp inward / or toward the ram more? Start at 1/2 inch intervals. You could also shorten the outside tube for more adjustment?

If I do that, the rod inside that is attached to the cable end will go past bottomed out and crush something. At that current setup on the ram the cable is bottomed out with the drive all the way in.

I`m not sure what you`re asking .... I have the same set up, drives level with bottom is a "4" on the indicators.

Any adjustment in the cable ends? Is it a 3300c end? Looks as if you need just a minor adjustment. So the adjustment / position in the picture is drive totally tucked?

Does the inside portion bottom out first? Or does the outside tube bottom out first?

Yes it is a 3300C end. in the picture the drive is level and the indicators are at the very end of the threaded portion,
On the drive end, inside the tube there is a rod that contacts the end of the tube (the end with the hose clamp) with the drive all the way in/ down this rod and spring is totally collapsed.

So basically what needs to happen is the apparatus must compress more to get you to zero. To achieve this the tube must be shortened to give you the adjustment you need. Looks like the "tube" on outside should be shortened about 1" to give you the adjustment play needed. Or the rod inside must be lengthened to get your adjustment. Which would be easier?

Mine are at 1 when tucked all the way in.. then go up from there , 4 is level.. 8 is rooster city. I don`t see what the issue is . Works perfectly fine for me.

Edit h I see, yours have negative numbers on the indicators so zero should be level. Mine go from 1-8 ..
Seems like too many numbers not enough travel.
Might wanna just set it up at 0 being all the way tucked in and go from there.

I had that set up when the boat had trs's,,I used it on my bravos.I'd put drives level then adjust rams mounts to get zero.Just make sure the mounts and cable don't bind up when trimmed in.if so,adjust so the don't(mounts) then adjust cable ends to get zero when level.pita but it can adjust up.
