why the differences between Gil manifolds?

why the differences between Gil manifolds?
Im looking for another set of Gil exhaust manifolds and saw a pair that has freeze plugs in them.
What are the differences between these [ATTACH=CONFIG]549193[/ATTACH] vs these [ATTACH=CONFIG]549194[/ATTACH]

no difference at all. matter of fact if u look close the area where the plugs are on the earlier sets the later sets are thin there and will rot thru ..there setup to have the plug there but the plugs are omitted and a very thin layer of alum is there .ive welded up many sets that leak where the plugs are supposed to be

What is the point of the nipple on the back side of the riser? I have a new Gil as a spare and it has this. My older ones with freeze plugs have a plug in the hole? Is it important to have this? If so, where do you plumb the water?

The nipple is there to eliminate air pocket, that would cause steam, or a hot spot. It goes up to the riser.
