A promo video of some home built redneck contraption some guy built with, mostly likely.plans out a 1974 edition of popular mechanics. Judging from the lack of pictures on the website, I seriously doubt a full size prototype has even been made much less a marketable boat...

as stated foil boats been used for yrs
back in mid 80s I rode on a foil ferry probably 100 people on it in naples Italy
so widely used in Europe for long time
pleasure wise,,,,,,,hate to see what happens when pull on a beach,,,,,
mecedes already built a electric cigarette hulled boat
future is here of different energy sources besides fossil
I say im going to burn as much as I can with my trips till I cannot get any more,,,,,,lol

Personally, I think hydrofoils are an outdated innovation (if that's possible) that has been tested before and long term, wasn't as good as everyone hoped. Had them in the 70's on Sydney Harbour in a commercial application but they were ultimately replaced by much more efficient cats. The traditional old ferries are still extremely popular too.
Perhaps now with electric power and new technology the world is ready for something like this in a pleasure boat but my guess, the almighty dollar rules and I hate to think what one of those things would cost.....?
