Default Manual release for Engine Hatch?

I noticed Baja offers this as an option in the new brochure. Does anyone have one or know how it works/how it's hooked up? Boat is a 98 with twin screw jacks for the sun deck. I've never heard of the jacks failing but just curious how the manual release would be set up.

Basically it's a system where the hatch coupling is attached to the jacks with a sheer pin with detent balls holding it in place. You pull on a ring(from the cockpit, probably under the seat) that is attached to a cord that yanks the pins out. This way you can open the hatch in the event of a power failure or jack failure without doing further damage.

Sounds simple enough. I wonder if I can buy the kit from Baja for less than $1,000.00. Now you got me thinking though. Maybe I could make a setup from let's say a couple of old motorcycle clutch cables, a few cushion clamps, rubber groments, stainless #6-8 screws, drill a few holes, .....I better get back to work

Yeah Sac.,

I think you should get back to work and leave the thinking to those qualified to do so!

Hey, Hey Evil, how are ya buddy?
Yeah, sometimes I definately get carried away. Well, that's half the fun of owning a boat; Tinkering Besides, not all of us have the balls to bite the bullet and buy a brand new 29 footer.

Do you have that option on your boat? Like I said, I don't think they would fail, but you never know.

As far as I know, no I do not have it. It does sound like a good thing to have. I just hope I never need it.

How was the weekend? Any plans this weekend? I will give you a call this week.

Maybe we can come up with a cheap kit, sell em, get rich, buy a couple 36' Outlaw's, find some nice young girls, move to Miami. I am definately a dreamer.

Back to reality, I think that Eagle Mills Craft show (nonsense) is this weekend. That will give Mrs. S. a chance to go buy a bunch of useless stuff. At least I don't have to go, that's worth the money she spends. Definitely give me a buzz, maybe we'll get to work on the "Baja Engine Hatch Detach Kit"

Thats funny, Diane wants to go to that too! Lets send them together and we can go do our own thing! I'll talk to you later.

PS. I love the idea of getting rich quick. Lets figure something out!
