Default Flywheel runout - Do I need to check this?

I am getting ready to put the engines back in my boat (496 HO's). I had the flywheels off to put the engines on stands. I noticed in the merc service manual it says to check the runout when re-installing the flywheel. Is that necessary? I don't have a dial indicator but will get one if needed. Also, it say's the man runout is .008 however doesn't say what to do if it exceeds that?

Thanks for the help!
