Default Bravo one tilt/trim rams rebuild

Has anyone rebuilt thier rams on thier outdrive? For the last while when i pull my outdrive off and put it back on for service my rams don't both line up 100%. Now i just brought my boat home from storage and noticed one of the rams leaking where the shaft goes into the ram. So i think I need to rebuild the rams and bleed them before putting the outdrive back on the boat for the summer. Can this be done and how easy is it? and special tools?

For the $120 or so to pickup brand new SEI units I wouldn't waste the time rebuilding, JMO
They work great btw

Just ordered a set of the SEI rams today. The parts add up fast so i do agree with you. was already thinking about that route aswell.

Are the trim rams the same for all bravo's? Would you have any concerns running the SEI's on a high power XR boat?

Did you get the SEIs and if so how did they work?

I'm curious as to SEI's rep. as well as I've noticed they offer all kinds of outdrive parts including full units and split lowers/uppers. Anyone have experiences with those pieces?

I've rebuilt mine for about $20 each. Really no special tools needed. Was an hour job tops per side. To get the end cap off. Use a pipe wrench lightly with the anode on while the ram is still on the boat but disconnected on the rear side. The rest is just seals and o rings.

I agree - I haven't had to do our Bravo 3 rams (yet) but I've done an Alpha twice - and even I could do this -- and I'm NOT a mechanic. However, cost wise - if you were able to buy a new unit from SEI for around 120.00 that seems awful inexpensive.

I bought a pair of SEI's and installed them but didn't think my drive trimmed in as far. I have a Merc High Performance transom assembly so that may have been the issue. They worked fine otherwise - just as you'd expect. Used them for a month until I rebuilt the factory rams. I'll sell my SEI's for $35 plus shipping if anyone is interested please PM me.

Where did you get the parts to do the rebuild?
