I've been side tracked so many times with buts project and changed so many things along the way.
Do both smaller wires (yellow and tan) need to go to the small post on starter?
Also the does the black wire for the alternator ground to the alt itself?
I changed the distributors to electronic dui's.

Black wire ground to alternator case. That harness you have is probably from a point set up do not hook the tan wire up. Tan wire is for more voltage when cranking when running resistor with points.

So in regards to the starter just eliminate the tan wire then? Not sure why I left it at the time when I installed harness but maybe was just a safety measure just in case deal. Who knows.
Tks John.
