fel pro 1047,it is a composit gasket with a compressed thickness of .039.the gasket bore is 4.540.the bore on a 502 is 4.466 so you can not have a 4.450 bore.you don,t need a mls gasket and unless you resurface the head&block deck i don,t reccomend a mls gasket.

This is actually a thread I'd like to piggy back on. I will also be ordering new head gaskets. Adding 2.3l sidemount whipples to 502 mag mpis. I was told to go cometic. Many different thicknesses. The block is brand new and the heads will be gone through at machine shop. Wondering how I would pick a thickness.

I'd measure how far down in the bore the piston is first,,but if you want a close guess,.031-.039" should work.I'd have the heads cc'd so you can get as close to 9-1 comp ratio and motor will run really well.
what cam are you going to run?
