While traveling from south FL back up to Tampa this weekend, guess what I saw on Northbound I-75 in Sarasota? How about a 2012 +/- Escalade towing a boat that was by far too large for it to be towing. This boat was huge. It was a 31' +/- boat, baby yacht style. Not sure what you call those.... cruisers or something. Had little port windows, etc. Thing looked to be about 3 stories tall. On a steel triple axle trailer. And he was in the right shoulder with his flashers on going 15mph. Guess he had a flat? Or maybe the escalade crapped it's pants. I have a new 1500 Silverado with 3.42 gears, 9,600 # tow rating and I'm modifying some parts like HD Max tow pkg leaf springs and tow mirrors and I would never attempt to tow a boat like he was doing. Timing is spot on, I've been partaking in another thread on here about towing a 29' baja outlaw with my 1500. Mr. Escalade needs to take a timeout and learn about towing before he kills someone. What goes through people's minds that allows them to try something like that?

Does FHP really enforce stupidity like that? Ridgeline guy or Escalade guy? I always wondered how technical FHP gets on this topic. Ex- If i'm towing a 29' Baja outlaw with twin small blocks and an aluminum trailer is the FHP really going to pull me over and run the figures, do the math, make sure I have a WDH etc and find out I'm maybe 100# over my rating. Or do they stick to the glaring idiots that we both mentioned above?

FMP? Florida Marine Patrol? I'm looking at a 29' with small blocks, triple axle alum trailer of about 1,200-1,500 Lbs. So long as I don't load the truck with cargo and people I'm under the limit. After this past weekend's I-75 traffic... makes me want to just drive the boat to wherever I'm going. Just run the coastline and stop for fuel and such.

Granted it is not baby yacht but my buddy tows his 32' Spectra cat with a 2014 Escalade and it does a great job, I was actually shocked at how well it stopped and pulled but I do know the Spectra doesn't really weigh ****.
