Default Can you rebuild a HP500 power steering pump

Took the Talon our yesterday for shake down run, noticed power steering slow to respond, checked it out, and I can pull the pulley shaft out about1/32 inch, push in back in, bearing problem?

pump could be down on pressure, yes can be rebuilt, but you would be better off replacing it, you can use a one from a truck, just exchange the pressure regulator and spring(large nut where pressure line attaches) with your old pump

these are GM saginaw pumps and yes the pressure reg valve / spring and different rating than the auto side. Change it over like above said and make sure it is very clean plus no rust spots.
