I saw "SLINGSHOT" today, how cool is that*********

Went to PROPCO to get my props fixed and met Peter Dean who has his original "SLINGSHOT" in the back of the shop. Pretty awesome to me to meet the racers and innovators from the glory days gone by. Of course I had as many questions as I could think of and learned a lot more about boat performance. I got a signed poster from the old days that I will be happy to hang in my shop with my Formula posters. He is going to sell his boat so if anyone is interested you can call PROPCO and inquire about it.

I grew up watching Mr. Dean race that round Port Phillip Bay Melbourne.
My old man and I never missed the 'around the bay race' on Australia Day weekend. We'd be bobbing around in the chop in dad's 17' Caribbean Crosby waiting for the boats to fly past.
Didn't get any photos did you? Or maybe a rough price? I'd love to own that thing but it's probably out of my 'toy' budget.

There were a few boats named Slingshot, different sizes and some confusion about beam. I assume the one at Propco is the last one Peter Dean raced which I think is 44' long.
For those interested, here's an old thread that starts off about Slingshot then turns to Aus boat racing generally. Surprising how many Cigarettes/Magnums/flops made a big impact in Australia. Interesting read for any Aussies on here. Aussie powerboating isn't really big enough to sustain a forum like OSO but it's nice to read a few old threads about boats I remember seeing race.

Peter talked about a lad that followed him all over when he was racing there. Was that you?

I took some pics of the boat, Peter, his trophies and got up close and personal with the boat. I can send some to you if you like. I was like a kid in a candy store all excited and google eyed. He mentioned something like $100K if I heard right and he is preparing to sell a lot of things there, machines etc.
