Default Looking For a Secondary Trim Cylinder Name

Let me start out saying Sorry, as I know this is going to be somewhat vague with no pics, but I forgot to take some today. Wondering if anyone knows of or ever heard of an external trim type cylinder that is attached to the port side trim ram? I forgot to take a pic today but will go back up to my boat in a couple of days. Anyway, this trim cylinder is attached to the outside of the trim ram with two SS clamps. It has an inner rod that extends and contracts. There is also a big chrome ring on the rear most port side trim ram bolt. This inner rod bottoms out against that big chrome ring when the outdrive is down. I have no clue what it’s called. Prev. Owner didn't know either, just said it was for the trim.

If you happen to have an idea what this is called, please let me know. I was trying to find a leak and thought it was the trim rams. There was lubricant dripping down onto the cavitation plate and running down the front of the lower unit and onto the floor. Most of the wet stuff was centered around and under the front cavitation plate anode (the u shaped one). Everything else was clean and dry and we couldn’t find any leaks. Took the trim rams off thinking one of them was leaking and I need to find out how to adjust this trim cylinder and read up on it if I can find what to look for. If you need a pic, I will get some this weekend.
