Default Correct spark plugs and wires for '94 Mercruiser 454?

I just bought a 1994 Formula 252ss with a stock 454 (carb) and bravo 3. The prepurchase survey recommended new plugs and wires. I've been reading a lot of conflicting information. What is the general consensus from those in the know? Which wires, which plugs, what gap?

Are the Sierra wires any good? I'd rather spend money on quality than repeatedly buy crappy parts.

The other week I replaced a set of Merc wires that where dated 1993. Pretty impressive I think. Motor has 600+hrs if i remember right.

And thats when they had better parts back 25 years ago.. If bought currently - you will never get Merc 7mm spark plug wires to last 20 to 25 years ever again NEVER will happen. I would say possible 10 max if you are lucky and that is really pushing it.

They are in the parts selling biz cause their engine packages are not selling. Outboards yes - Mercruiser I/O 's not really. Something of theirs has to sell and that is parts with short longevity.

I like the blue merc wire sets fit right and if you get 10 years out of a set for 60 dollars I say good

As long as I'm on the subject of plugs, what's the correct torque for installing the spark plugs?
