Default In the market for a new boat looking for some suggestions

I recently just sold my 2004 29ft fountain fever with an HP 525 set up and looking to upgrade into something for offshore boating. The fountain was used in fresh water only and I had to drive 2.5 one way to use it. Kind of silly when I can be in the Atlantic in 45 mins. With that being said I'm looking at the 32ft sunsation dominator and 31ft Sonic SS. Would like to run solid in the 80's. Which setups in these boats will achieve my desired speed while having comfort and cabin room? Does anyone know if any are avail? Would like a closed cooling setup in the price range of $60k or so. Thank you a head of time for any input..

I think getting mid 80's out of the Sonic with 496's will be difficult.

Are the 496's the biggest for the Sonic? Or can you get them HP 500's or 525's?

I've seen them with 500's. Still might be tough getting solid 80+ MPH.

Look at the Phantoms for sale also. Not a common boat and right now 34's are going below the market value. Not knocking Sunsation as I have had 3 or Sonic just other options might be out there

VERY

If 80's and 496's is your goal just only look at Sunsation

He wants a cabin he said in the first post.

Yes it needs to have a cabin. Does anyone know of any Sunsations that are for sale? So a Sunsation with 496's will run in the 80's? Are there any specific years to look for or to stay away from? Any other places to look beside OSO?

My buddy has a 31 Sonic with 525's in it. It runs 81-82 tops on a good day in optimal conditions. I don't think they ever rigged them with 525's from the factory. It originally had 496's in it and was switched/upgraded during a motor failure.

Phil

BTW - It's a great boat if your seriously looking at a Sonic.
