Default How do you mount a cavation plate on XR with -2 sportmaster?

I just got a set of XR uppers and have a set of -2 sportmaster lowers on the way. The XRs came with cavation plates but I don't know how to mount them. Can anyone help or tell me where I can get instructions?

You don't really need them. Unless you want to run drive showers

Did you have to cut them? Mine are solid all around. They are not cut to fit around the drive.

This is how they came from the factory. They look to be water jet cut, seems strange yours wouldn't be done. Is it possible supplier sent you a "modify to fit" part instead of a "bravo app"? I guess it wouldn't be that hard to template and cut with a cutoff wheel, band saw, etc and then finish them smooth. Drill 2 holes and mount them. I have mine off now, rebuilding and refinishing my drives. If you want me to template and email over to you let me know.

Mine mounted under the upper and bolted up under where the steering tab went. It covered up the opened up underside of the upper where it use to mate with the std lower. It also had ano anode attached to it on the under side. So one bolt through the steering tab hole and two with spacers that attached to the upper cave plate.

The ones in the picture look like IMCO cav plates. They were cut to go around the upper like that. The Mercs were full plates that same length, just bolted under. I did not have sweptbacks but that shouldn't matter. I have no idea if Mercury updated the plates to mount like those in the pic, but mine did not mount that way.
