Mine seems to be getting slower and slower. Any ideas? Can they be rebuilt or doni just need to replace? Batteries are good. Ground is good.

Forgot to add. I have taken it apart and cleaned. Tried adding some grease which seemed to make it worse.

Make sure your battery is charged up. Try jumping the power supply. If that works put in fresh fat cables. if it's still slow get a forward reverse relay box. Eddie Marine item 302-33.

Hook power directly to the actuator to see if it moves faster. If it does, a hatch relay set up should help.
If not, then I would probably replace it.

Also check your switch resistance and connection points as you can lose voltage with these as well. The relay still is the best way to go. I've noticed my actuator speed double with a relay.

Did you clean where the brushes contact the rotor? You need hit those with fine emery cloth.

The dash switch activates the relay. The relay gives direct power from the battery instead of the power having to go through the switch.

Ok so the relay wires between switch and actautor motor but draws power from the battery? Ill check it out tonight and see if i can figure anything out.

The factory uses perhaps 16 GA wire going from the battery to the switch and then back to the actuator which is likely a 16' round trip.The relay is mounted near the battery and or near the actuator to minimize the total length of wire carrying the current and therefore minimizes voltage drop to the motor. It's better to use heavier gauge wire between the battery and relay. I used 12 GA. You'll see a very big difference in speed. The switch just engages the power relay (one relay for up and one for down) and no longer powers the actuator motor.
