Mario, I don`t know anything about the US market for insurance but here in the UK I would have had the same issue had I not declared my Magnum as have been subject to a total refit and the having the boat independently surveyed by an insurance company approved surveyor.
He in turn provided an independent report following a structural survey, standard of engineering and safety systems ( crew cutout lanyards,fire suppression system, fuel system and sea cocks.
Based on the satisfactory report "SideWinder" is now insured for $85,000 at a cost of $560 per annum fully comprehensive with a declared speed of 75 MPH
