is most everyone running the msd dist 85551 in conjunction with daytona cd-1 or msd box. Any Mallorys or anything else. Just trying to narrow down the list. Msd might be considered to be great but... looking for aftermarket.

MSD the worst marine use dist out there, look at the inside of one after a season, looks like something found in a model A sitting in a field for 40 years. They love to just die at any given time(MSD=may soon die) I have had great luck with H/P HEI's cheap, reliable...

Getrdunn will be running roots blowers, I don't think an HEI will clear them.
The downside to MSD, is the corrosion issue. However , coating the distributor internals with CRC-SP400 spray, prevents it. Takes about 5 bucks, and 5 minutes. My MSD pro billet distributors look like new inside, after 7 years.
You can also use a merc distributor with a daytona box. Daytona sells a modified rotor for it that you will need.

I'm running a Mallory marine distributor with the CD-1 Daytona box.
It's a small cap distributor. I bought it after MSD bought Mallory and it came in a Sierra marine package. Somehow Sierra is involved with the Mallory marine stuff.
Anyhow. The Mallory distributor is a much nicer piece than the MSD in regards to construction.

Ive used msd distributors, looked like they were immersed in salt water after 2 years, sent back and they replaced everything for like 90$, bought clear coat spray in spray can and coated the fawk out of them inside, looked like new 10 years later, fwiw, Smitty
