K planes indicator cable help

Looks like I lost the rubber outer coating on my K planes cable am I still good to go or will this cause a leak into the transom. Rubber compression grommet and plastic washer are in good shape

I have pictures but only have access to a phone at the moment and I can't figure out how to add pictures
