Assuming you mean BRAKES...

Electric over Hydraulic (EoH) is the best for most boat trailers.
It's also more expensive and will require a brake controller in the truck.

Surge brakes are convenient if you tow the same trailer with many trucks, as if you may be a car/truck dealer.
However, they only work properly when the truck and boat are in a straight line, and the truck is decelerating, not sliding. If you have no truck brakes (failure), you have no trailer brakes.

There are many posts on this topic that you can find with the search tool.

My opinion: others will vary
Best overall: electric over hydraulic (that is if your unable to get air)

Fresh Water: electric
Salt water: surge

Surge brakes will be fine for a 24 Outlaw being towed with half ton truck.

When I called my marina and asked them to order me a new venture trailer. He ordered me one with surge brakes. I should of done a little investigating on my own before hand. I thought the marina would order me a trailer that fit my needs, money was not an issue. I don't trailer far. I live 2 miles from the lake and I keep the boat in my yard. I make 1 or 2 trips a year to my mechanic a hour a way to get winterized and any other work that may need to be done. But on a good year only one trip. Thank you for your insight. Pulling it with my 2013 f150, I don't even know the boat is back there. My truck is rated to pull 10500 pds, so I am well below that. Thank you for your opinion.
