Just recently got new stringers, floor, etc installed in the 1994 Conquest 28 Enforcer and had some motor work done to the 454 Mag; water crossover, EMI manifolds and risers, MSD ignition, heads refreshed. Trying to get the prop dialed in for more top end. We tried a 24p Bravo 1 and could only turn 4200 rpm at 56 mph. Tried a 23p Mirage Plus and spun it up to 4800 at 62 mph. With the Mirage Plus, around 3/4 throttle it wanted to blow out but would pick right back up when chopped the throttle. So thinking we needed a bit more diameter we tried a Solas Lexor 14 3/4" x 23p and it would hardly get on plane. Wanted to blow out but finally got it on plane and ran up to 4800 again at 60 mph. Whats the difference between the Lexor and Mirage Plus? It looked like the Mirage has more cup...
I'm wondering which prop best suits our needs. I'm thinking if I send the Lexor in to get labbed, maybe take some pitch away, add some cup, that might get us in the 65mph mark around 5k. I know its a heavy boat and getting any speed out of it is going to take some power but I think 65 is within reach.

The diff between 22 and 24 pitch is just under 10 percent. 4200 plus 400 is 4600. A 20 inch pitch would put you around 5000, which is more where you want to be I would think. See if you can borrow a 21 mirage or even aluminum prop to try. That is a lot of boat for a single 365-385 hp engine. Now that exhaust is upgraded and heads are fresh, cam and carb upgrades should be looked into. The exhaust didn't increase hp by itself, but it gave you room to play...

M+ is only a .125" smaller in diameter than the Solas. On these set ups, that doesn't matter.
Solas props are not destined for custom Lab work. "Barely get on plane" is your first red flag. Well maybe a little bit of mods can work but I would work with a better casting to start with.
Back to the M+.
