Found a 1991 272 SR1 for sale.. Pics look nice, has twin 365hp 454's in it. Questions: With an older boat, what are some of the issues that I should be looking for as far as what those year boats had. What are some of the issues other members have had? What do you think the top speed should be with fresh motors? Main waters would be lower Lake Huron, St. Clair river, and upper Lake St. Clair so I know that these boats handle the water well. Thanks for feedback.

A common area for issues on these boats is the bulkhead under the cabin step. Water gets trapped there and has no where to go. Other than that just check it out like you would any other 25 year old boat. Highly recommend getting a survey to make sure there sent any moisture issues.

I purchased a 1989 292 last summer with freshened 454 mags and all hydraulic roller valve train. I'm still learning and also testing props, but with about 3/4 tank of gas I've had consistent 70-72 mph gps runs. I was quite surprised with those speeds. I would love hydraulic steering though as she seems pretty loose at higher speeds. I do love the boat and good luck.
