Default Questions on a 260

1991 260 What can you tell me about this boat is it the same hull as an outlaw with a built in swim platform or is it its own hull. How does it handle the water and so forth. Thanks Am looking at one with the 454/365

Boomer,

No it is not the same hull as an Outlaw. The 260 has a 21* deadrise at the transom and the Outlaw is 24*.

Before trading up to our 99 36 Outlaw we had a 95 260 with the 454CI 365HP Mag like you are looking at. It was a very nice boat and we greatly enjoyed it, however the opportunity came up and we moved up. It handled fairly rough lake chop pretty well. A Bravo 1 4 blade is the prop for this boat even though it is slower than a Mirage +. You should be able to reach 62-64MPH + - with this package. Honest GPS speeds not necessarly speedo.

Hope this helps.

Be Safe,
Mark

I have owned a '93 260 for 4 years now. It is a beautiful boat with a huge cockpit for it's size. Very well made and rigged boat in my opinion. Mine has every option you can think of including drop down bolster seats and Gaffrig shifter and throttle with drive trim in the handle. I swapped the stock 7.4L carb motor for a 502 this year. With a 24" Bravo 1 it really woke the boat up. I picked up 6 mph and the overall power increase is a lot of fun. It just literally pops up on plane without even using the tabs. Just tuck in the drive and go. My best top speed was 61.2 on GPS. I think there is more to be had with a bigger carb. I used the Weber 750 from the 7.4L and was turning 4800 rpm. Next year I am putting an 800 Holley on it and thinking maybe a set of EMI Thunder exhaust manifolds. I boat mostly on Lake Michigan. The ride is good up to about 2 footers depending on the type of waves. My only complaint is the 21* deadrise. If it had 24* it would be perfect.

Glad to find some information on the mid 90's 260. I just bought a 1994 260 with a new GM 454 HO 425 hp motor. The boat came with a couple props, none of which seem right for the boat. Did you try a 23 Mirage plus on yours? I tries Hydromotive 23 4 blade clever prop and the boat slowed down, I also tried a 23 pitch turbo and it blew it out of the water all the time, I then tried a 25 Mirage plus but could only run about 4200 rpm. I figure the 23 mirage plus would be perfect but you are the second person with a Bravo 1 prop that says it works the best on this boat. Any thoughts?

Thanks
Brian
