F-250 trailer plug

Referring to the round 7 pin.....Im installing a new EOH controller on the trailer ( Dexter 1600 ) Ive got everything to work except the blue controller wire from the integrated controller on the dash. If I meter the pin with the controller engaged Im reading 2.8 vdc, is this right ?? this doesn't seem to be enough voltage to fire the trailer pump. If I put 12 vdc direct to the blue wire on the pump it comes on and builds pressure, Anyone have thoughts on this.

Just found this on another forum, mines a 2005, total BS, I'll hook on to it and test it.
On the early model 2005 trucks the controller does not apply full
brake voltage under 15 or 25 MPH. Seems like the cutoff was
mar or apr of 05. If it was mfg before that date it will be like that.
After that date the brake circuit works at any speed.

I've got the same Dexter pump pulled by my 2000 Excursion, but without an intergrated controller. I went with a high-end aftermarket controller, and it was still a lot of work to get it to work right. Nature of the beast maybe? Anyway, once finally figured out, it works well, and so will yours. Im gonna get my neighbor to sit on the tongue of the trailer and pull him about 25mph while on a cell call and have him tell me if the pump is working.........LOL....what was the ford engineers thinking....

The Constant Hot wire is what powers the pump.
The Blue Wire is what tells it to turn on, and how much.
You need to have the Constant Hot wired up as well.
I don't know for certain how the Integrated Controllers work. It might be:
-reading the actual brake pressure, and translating that to an electrical signal to send to the blue wire.
-just detecting that the brake light switch has been tripped, and applying voltage to the blue wire that you can vary with the adjustment
-using a pendulum or inertia based controller somewhere, that only varies the voltage to the blue wire when the truck is actually decelerating.

doesn't work that way either, the only way to energize the pump is to pull the break away switch or put +12 direct to the blue wire.........my truck was built 11/04 so it falls into this category, see my 2nd post I found on a truck site.
