Default Progress Report: Fountain Kilo Boat Build On Track For January Record Attempt

Built for an attempt to break the current existing V-bottom kilometer speed record, this 42-Fountain moved one step closer to completion today, https://speedonthewater.com/in-the-n...record-attempt.

You can look at the pictures from the old kilo boat from 2004. It had the full hullsides & a raised hump in the back much like the mtis do. The new boat is alot more aerodynamic with alot more horsepower & 14 yr newer technology. And it has some additional bottom modifications. Will be a fast piece.

...And ten inches lower up front. If they take the ten inches from the top of the hull sides, won't it lose most of the beak? Could also make it a fair bit shorter LOA. Does the beak look shorter in the photo?

Still sounds exciting, look forward to seeing the end result.

No one is going to run 2,000 hp engines or drive 200 mph in a recreational boat. Most performance boats run north of 80 mph now and it's just a matter of how much engine you can afford to buy or run and get you into your thrill zone. Dropping in 4,000 hp to break a speed record is not terribly impressive. I hope no one gets hurt.
