The disc break / Crashbox setup is just about the only part of my boat that I think could use a little help. The brakes tend to get hot if you over use them, and they are messy.

With the new 72L-HP on the market, I feel like that should be able to hold up to the punnishment.

Anybody try this yet? I know it's a small group that run these things, I'm just trying to not reinvent the wheel if it's already been done.

I think the SCS crashbox is the only thing that will handle the torque, I wouldn't like to try a clutched transmission behind a turbine if the clutches start to slip or fail your into an over-speed situation of the N2.

Sadly I know too much about overspeed issues of turbines. Dealing with one at work right now...smh.

There are a couple turbine boats that have my two speeds in them. They worked good because it would idle at a lower speed in low gear and it did not shift as hard as the crash box clutch

I'm sure the new Bam trans would work. The only problem they would have is if the turbine output shaft slowed down too much which would cause the trans to loose oil pressure and slip the clutch, I used an accumulator bottle to smooth that transition

yes, they never ended up paying for them so I had to repo them.

We use the 72lhp with our motors, so they should have no problem handling a turbine.

If Turbine Marine aren't using them there has to be a good reason, they have built more turbine boats than anyone else out there.
Possibly because if you are in neutral or shifting between without the brake applied your N2 will be close to 100% without any load or resistance even with he N1 at idle.
