anybody using land&sea bravo extension kit?

I installed a stern jack on an 18' Checkmate with a 350 Mag. There was NO speed gain, BUT there was a huge improvement in stability/handling-no more chine walking. If you have a swim platform, the drive may be able to hit it in the trailer position with the stern jack.

Installed one on a friend's 23' Switzer with 454 Mag - Bravo 1. Again, no real increase in speed and very little handling improvement since the boat handled very well to begin with. Be aware however that installation on the earlier Bravo is not recommended because or the additional strain that extra leverage places on the gimble area and related parts. Later Bravos were heaver duty and would handle it. I'm sure that if my friend had it to do over again he would spend the money elsewhere. --- Jer

I installed one on a modified Crownline 225. Testing it on the same day, speed increased from 74 to 78 on GPS. You really should have hydraulic steering when adding one. I also wouldn't recommend running under extreme offshore type conditions with the Stern Jack. The extra setback increases the side loading quite a bit. I think they work fine on lake boats. A side benefit is that they allow the boat to plane at a slower speed. A great asset if you pull wake boarders and such.

Don't waste your money. Put a new set up on a 25 Checkmate. No gain in speed ,wears out the gimbal fast and requires external hyd steering. It's all a gimmack, they know once you go thru all the hassel of installing it with the trim cylinder extensions and all that you will probably not return it for your refund.....Buy a CD instead.
