Default 69 Sea Ray Pachanga Restoration

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this site and thread - just wanted to get some help/advice on restoring a 1969 Sea Ray Pachanga. When we first got this boat, it had been out of the water for 20 years and had sort of been abandoned. The first focus was the GM Chevy 327 engine - that turned out to be just fine and roared to life with a few new parts...

Unfortunately same couldn't be said for the transom and floor - many soft spots!

We've decided to go ahead with the floor and transom rebuild since this boat is cool looking and doesn't seem to be too many of them around anymore.

The boat originally had a GM 327 engine with the MerCruiser II outdrive. I've heard the MerCruiser II was only available for a few years in the late 60s/early 70s. It looks to be in good shape, but very difficult to find parts and info about. So we were wondering what are the options of replacing the outdrive - what's the best option and what are the options to putting a jet drive on? I think the Pachanga was offered with the Mercruiser II outdrive or a Berkeley jet drive?

We are NOT boating experts by any means but can certainly appreciate a boat such as this and want to give it some new life!

I'll post some photos below and keep updating as the restoration goes along! It looks like I have to do 10 posts before I can post pictures.

Thanks!

Welcome to OSO!
You're not alone with your Pachanga, got another member doing the same thing right here.....

He's was originally going with a 5.0 Mercruiser and Bravo setup which would be great. The 5 liter is a pretty straight forward engine, coupled to a bravo, should run well forever. Even an Alpha drive would be fine unless you want to make bigger hp. He later changed his mind and upgraded to bigger power but it's probably overkill

Easiest way to post pics is to pay the membership. It's dirt cheap and you'll get the value back very quickly.

Project sounds great, look forward to following along.

Ive been restoring a 69 pachanga myself that the guy above this post was talking about. If you have any questions shoot me a text 586-256-3241 I’d be glad to help out, would love to see some pics of your boat. My boat started out all original just like yours. Unfortunately it was also completely rotted and needed a full restore.
