Ok, I want to start a discussion that probably has already been discussed. I have a 2000 Baja 36 Outlaw with twin 500 EFI's. The props are spinning out. I had to pull the drives to have both engines rebuilt. I was thinking of swopping my drives from side to side and spin the props in. What I have read that its only a 1 to 2 MPH gain and its harder to dock and you can loose some stability at top speed. I'm not sure 1 to 2 mph is worth it if that's the case. What are your thoughts? I have always heard swapping drives to make them work on other side of gears will last a little longer. You dont have to swap drives to swap spin in- out rotation.

Docking is no fun - manageable but not fun!

Trimming the drives positive helps with the maneuvering, but it still not as good as out, it’s easy enough to try, just put the props on for inside rotation and run the shifters backwards, if you like how it runs, change the cable position at the shifter

It made almost no difference on any of the 33's I ran or my 29, more of a PITA than anything, actually my 29 was faster spinning out than in. Unless you are running a gob of power and have bottom end work and drives etc. just invest in a good set of LAB props set up right and you'll be happier IMO. Your 36 is super deep with a very conservitive X since the X's didn't start coming up until the 02's really.

I noticed the same thing when docking the 36, spinning in. It took the boat about 10 seconds (seemed like forever) just to get it to start backing and respond. But a couple times you would get used to It. Just better not be in a hurry or have a bad cross wind.

The 36 really carries the bow when turning in also.

This works with XRs, I dont think it works with standard Bravos.

So I still havnt seen anyone talk about speed much, turning in verses out.

If your looking for speed gains, whipple your 500's, there's no gain in prop rotation

That is what I thought. I am happy with the speed I'm getting, just was wondering if turning in would be a gain or not. I have the drives off so it would be a easy job to swop them. I am going to leave them turning out for docking and handling. Thank you for your thoughts.
