Inside a Weiand 177

For those of you who maybe wondering what the inside of a weiand 177 looks like (I couldn't find any pictures) .
Spliting the cases was pretty simple, just a lot of taping with a dead blow to loosen up things. I'd also recomend using a 3/8 or so wide, sharp chisle with the beveleved side away from the center case, diped in gear oil to help start seprating the outer cases. Once cracked open move up to a flat head screw driver (dipped in gear oil) to work the covers off the pins, carefully so you don't mar the sealing surfaces.

For those who are wondering how these work, the timing of the rotors is based on the shimming of the helical drive & driven gears in & out to advance/unadvance the rotors to the desaired clearance.

Ok so for those of us who are newbies, I found out that weiand 177 used in Merc applications had 2 different length shafts, one at 10" and one at 10.75 (or 11).
If you have the shorter shaft you need to run the deep dish upper pulley that is .6" from the rear shoulder to the start of the back of the splines. If you have the longer shaft you run the shallow dish upper pulley that is 1.0"+ from rear shoulder to the start of the back of the splines . So when your looking for pulleys make sure you get the one that works with your shaft set up.
Also the 177 has a 11 tooth spline and the 575sc uses a 14 tooth splined upper pulley so make sure your pulleys have 11 teeth.
School of hard knocks sucks, hopefully it saves you some time & money
And for those of you who actually read, as of today teague custom marine still has NOS of both the deep dish and shallow dish merc splined pulleys at 2.875"
