Default Tilt and trim problems

Have a 150 mercury black max, it is an older motor 84 or so. Trying to get the tilt and trim to work. Disconnected the green and blue wires from solenoids and ran them straight to the battery, negative and the positive I got the motor to tilt up but, then I switched it on the battery post to make it go down and it does nothing. This all started because all it would do is click when I tried to tilt the motor. Any help yall guys have would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Should be 3 wires, blue, green and black. Blue and black for up, green and black for down.

Does the pump sound like its coming up to speed in the direction it works? If not and it wont go the other way. Id say it time for a new pump motor.
