Default 32 Hustler with Black Hawk Drives

I need help looking to buy a 1995 Hustler 32 it has stock 502s and black hawk drives. One of the drives is missing. what is the speed of this boat as is. Black Hawk drives I read that are troublesome and might not handle hi horsepower. I would consider changing drives if need it. I would be using the Boat in a lake with maybe 2 foot waves I would like to modify the engines either supercharge or just up the horsepower to 500HP. I would like to do around 85 MPH or higher

Default Hustler 32

I own a 32' Hustler with 502s and Bravo ones. It does 70 MPH on ideal conditions. Those Black hawk drives are very problematic. How much are you paying for boat and in what conditions is it?

Hi Hector I bought the boat two weeks ago it was missing one drive which I bought. I opened both engines to make sure they were in good condition (they were fine) and I am putting them back together as we speak. Are your engines stock or have you done anything to them. I been told the problem with the black hawks is if you go higher that 500 HP. Are you happy with your boat? I have read that the black hawk drives are about 10 miles faster than the Bravo 1 thanks for the reply

The horse power isn't the biggest problem with the Blackhawk is the shifting you have to idle at 600 to 650 max or start in gear raced the drive back in the early 90s with Merc support and we ran 650 HP in our A class boat and won all but 1 race. They are a go 10 MPH faster. Regards Dan

Thanks for the info Dan I appreciate it I will keep that in mind and tune the RPM to 600 if possible. It seems you like the black hawk drives. I would like to make the boat run 85 if possible without going crazy in the modifications. I think the easiest way is to supercharge the engines.

Oh yeah, I'm extremely happy with boat. Bought it three years ago and picked-it up in Massachusetts, drove it down to Miami. Fortunately it was in great mechanical conditions. My 502s are completely stocked and I do 69 MPH at 5,200 RPM. That's good enough for me. The boat is pretty heavy so it rides like a charm, I love it man and so will you like the ride in the 32' Hustler. (This picture is before I had the interior redone to a more modern style with the headrest embroidered with "Hustler" logo!

Should be fast for the power.

very cool with thr blackhawks I would love to hear how that thing run.

Hector your 32 I think was up in Rochester for a bit before mass. The owner always claimed 80mph that I thought was total bs. Nice to see the boat being enjoyed. I love my 32 but keep breaking stuff in the drive train. I’m wondering if less power may be a solution and just sacrifice the speed.

Yeah, my top has been 70 MPH on perfect conditions with 2 people on board and 1/2 tank of gas. No way it will hit 80, but I'm extremely satisfied with it. It rides like a champion. Yeah, I bought it up in Massachusetts three years ago and drove it down to Florida myself!
