Where to install and discharge water psi dumps
#1
Where is the best place to install your psi dumps on a N/A carb application? I believe I read that one should have 2 on each motor? I was thinking the back and front of the intake but I’m not entirely positive. I’m guessing these need to have their own through hull fittings and not get Y’d into my dry tail dumps? I’m thinking about these or the 1/2” units. Thanks.

I used that same relief valve and it worked well. At the time I had a 2003 32' Sunsation with ITS Boxes and IMCO shorties. The marina that rigged the setup with the HP500's had fabbed up a L shaped tube and put a bung in it which allowed me to install the relief valve. So the water came out of the sea strainer, to the water pump then through the L shaped tube and into the crossover. The IMCO's really picked up a lot of water and the one dump valve was able to keep the water pressure under 25 #'s at close to 90 MPH. The boat was going to be rigged with big power prior to it getting the HP500's so they had already installed fittings through the port and starboard side along with the transom. I plumbed the dumps to the port and starboard side fittings. I have also seen people dump the water on the drives as well.

I do have full Imcos but the slots only cool the drive, I run low water pickups to my strainers. Good to know that that regulator is a solid unit though. Thanks.

We dump water from the front of the intake manifold thru the transom with a 90 degree fitting in the intake. The water pressure is controlled by the size of the hole in the reducer to give us 10-15 lbs water pressure

. I used a port on the intake manifold through a regulator like the hardin marine, and then out the side.
