We got our enhanced driver licenses and want to visit Canadian ports on Lake St. Clair and Lake Huron, etc. How do we do this? Who do we call? Do we use phone or VHF radio? Thanks in advance.

No, we don't have those or enhanced licenses. We call when we dock. Do not exit the boat. We wait for instructions and we do have pass ports. They give us a number that we write on painters tape and display on the boat. Sometimes they come and see us but usually not. Seems we're on file and they are familiar with the boat and passengers. We also always check back in on the US side at our local customs dock near our marina.

The 1-888-226-7277 works with or without CanPass. Have passports for all on board and your boat docs. it's unlikely they will pay you a visit. Zoom in on the attached map for check in locations and additional information.
Good luck and enjoy,

I hadn't thought about that! What does ROAM app do? Also is there a way to check into Canada via VHF while I'm near the harbor? That way I'd avoid an international phone call charge. We were in Canadian waters this week but didn't go ashore.
