Default Port bilge pump install 1990 29 fever

Does the engine have to be pulled out to install a new port bilge pump? Is there communication between starboard & port in the bilge through the main stringer? Can I run the boat with only starboard bilge pump operational?

Yes water can flow between sides. If you run only one I'd keep a spare one with hoses and alligator clips as a backup on the boat.

If you take the inside headers off you can change them without pulling the motors.

My port pump was not working (29 Fever w/twin 6.2s) Had to remove both inside exhaust manifolds and the port alternator to replace the pump. It was a bear to replace! JMHO but I would not run with just the one pump. As a side note, had my boat on the buoy during a night of heavy rain. The next day the batteries were flat. Water runs down the sides of the boat and into the air intakes and into the bilge...
