Hello have a 2012 Monterey 328 SS with twin 8.2 HO mag's. One has been starting to stall like it is running out of fuel when hot. I have seen a few people mention vapor lock ? I changed fuel filter still does it. Let cool for an hour or so and will start back up ? No alarms no beeps just dies out ? Any ideas would be great.
Thanks
Matt

this is catalyst engine for sure not nothing close to old school 502 / 8.2 L.
Many things can make these engines stall. I sugguest a OEM Merc cerc shop to look at it. Many systems on this app anyone working on it can make matters worse inwhich can become costly. I would start with fuel samples and fuel pressure testing. Improper cooling components can cause the engine to stall as well. There is pop off valves and check balls for cooling systems in these apps -- they must be checked and maintained all the time. Also the gen 3 cool fuel system is problem child and most likely has internal paint peeling causing fuel restrictions and really messing up the injectors.
WORD of warning many shops and injector services are clueless about the fuel injectors that the new 8.2 use. Different testing and cleaning procedures are needed for these injectors. They are calibrated totally different than persay the standard fuel injectors. Again this is solid info here that one would NOT hear anywhere else about these injectors.

Nothing to do with paint, since your engine starts fine when cool and if you can run it for extended periods on plane you are having vapor lock, you need to check the flow of water through the cool fuel module it can get restricted due to salt, corrosion or other..

Not to side track the OP's question, but the paint in the modules happened a long time ago and was covered under bulletin for the first series of the Gen 3 pumps. All the stock was cleared out and has not happened since from what I've seen and heard. Your saying that with the cat motors Merc has the paint issue showing up again?
Eddie Young can valid exactly what I am saying about this, cause just recently we had a long conversion over these cool fuels and year models. You can reach out and ask him as well.

YES WILL AGREE also for any cooling water flow restrictions in and out of the cool fuel as well.

this Merc SB has nothing to do with paint but for the cooling hose change and no bracket. Just in case if you were going to post this exact SB.
ZERO any info about paint internally but all about cooling hoses
