When one considers the massive advances in 'pleasure boat' performance parameters that we've seen since the 70's the fact that the existing record was set in 1978 clearly demonstrates how dangerous this whole thing is .
It's pretty mind boggling IMO . With all the variables involved there's no way in hell that I'd want to do this no matter how fast the builders and engineers say the boat could go.

I hope they get that record but in my mind, the record they're chasing, will forever be the best. Considering the simplicity and budget of the current record, it's mind boggling that 40 years later, it s still a mammoth task just to get close.
Keeping the record in the family would be a dream outcome, take all possible precautions, then come home safe and celebrate.
