Default Thermostat housings for Weiand 177 454s?

Guys,

Apologies for all the questions but planning out blower install. What thermo housings are you using?

Specifics:

454 Mags
Gil Exhausts - raw water dumps
Closed cooling with Merc heat exchangers cooling manifolds and block
Standard Merc recirc pumps for now.

Want to make sure whatever I use will not cause clearance issues.

Thanks!
Swamp

Not sure about the closed cooling but my 525 SC had a standard BBC like a 420 style thermostat housing...it had a hole drilled and tapped in the top with the plastic check ball deal in it for the upper water feeds on the elbows...like I said not sure if that will work for closed cooling or not...your current housings won't fit??

to be honest they are the old school ones and have seen better days so planning to replace. I like the stainless ones I've seen around but weiand instructions seem to point to a thermo relocation kit??? Will see when I mock everything up but trying to get ahead of it.....so install can happen over a weekend without waiting for parts. Thanks for inputs!

I have the Stainless Marine ones, I have crossovers and do not have closed cooling though. Her is a pic of my setup.

You will need offsets like SkiDoc posted unless you have the Merc 525SC intake manifolds. The Merc 525SC intakes have a built in offset already.
