im lookin at a Active Class Patrol Boat, it currently has a pair of 300 hp 8cyl gm Cleveland deisels, i was wondering how feasable repowering it with a much more modern deisel, say a cat c15, u can easily tune them up to 1000hp with out breaking a sweat, i would have to assume they would be more efficient

yes thats pretty much it, biult in 1927, repowerred in the 50s with Cleveland deisels has top speed of 13 knots and cruise is 9 gettin 4500 miles outta 7000 gal of deisel i would be looking to double everything, top speed, cruise n range

Cant help you on the repower, but that would be awesome to cruise around on!

Swapping from a Cleveland to a CAT or other would mostly have to do with transmission adaption, then dimensional size

i kinda always wanted a big sail boat to criuse the seas.. (still might happen, workin on convincing the warden this is a deep sea salvage vessel with cranes n miles of cable with multiple digit ton capacity (it'll pay for it self wink wink) but have a few deals on the fire, will have a nice chunk of calitol to pile on some leaf batterys a bit of solar, repower to something from this century and go from there

im pretty sure this is a telegraph vessele wth someome on the brifge tellin the emgine room.forward half ect, with the repower i want all control on the bridge (if i was honest id want a flybridge in a long nose Peterbiult cab lol)
